What a ride this week has been!!! I was taking pics for a photography assignment and ended up chasing this train.....
We closed the end of the week by celebrating my dad's 70th birthday, fun was had by all!!!
Monday morning brought some very sad news though that one of my favorite blogger's friend had died. Her name was Tabatha Benke and like many of us had never met Kim at the Daisy Cottage but was inspired by her daily!!
That lead me to thinking, hhmmmm, who inspires me on a daily basis? Who is it that I go to in the early morning and start my day with? Well, that would be Maggie at the White Farmhouse and Kim at the Daisy Cottage!! So I just wanted to take a moment and let them know. Why don't all of us take a moment and let our bloggy friends know just how much we appreciate their inspiration!! I am!! If you like you can add a comment and share them with the rest of us here.
So today is the day to remember a great man, Martin Luther King. A man who encouraged those around them to love their fellow man and vehemently persuaded them to be a better person. With that it mind it inspired me to remember another great man, Edward F. Connell my grandfather.
He also inspired those around him to be a better person. In fact the day that he passed away he died on the steps as he was on his way to class at 63 years old. He had always dabbled in photography and writing and was attending classes for a journalism degree. Maybe that is where I got the photography bug from.
When I was 11 years old I had just gotten my first camera for Christmas . I had to take it to grandma and grandpa's to show it to him for Christmas. As he sat in his rocking chair I begged him to let me take his picture. He sat and posed and then said "O.K. but you're gonna break your camera!" No sooner had I taken the picture when smoke came out of the ice-cube shaped flashbulb!! I was devastated--grandpa laughed!! The picture above is one of the last pictures that I took of him. He passed away that May, 13 days after his birthday.
With that in mind he still inspires me today and I still can't get rid of that bug!!
In fact this picture is the first picture I took with my new Canon dSLR. One of my favorite girls!! She was helping me to make her Birthday Cake.
With that in mind, take time today to give thanks for that person that has inspired you to be a better person!! I Thank God for Edward Francis Connell!!
I know you all are anxiously awaiting my list of ten things that makes me happy!! I just wanted to let Lucy know that I am compiling the list and will have it within the week. So make sure that you check back to see what I have come up with!!!
Today was the day to make derby cars for Cub Scouts!! This is ours before we put the wheels on it!!
Well I hope the very first days of the New Year have found all of you happy and in good health!! I just had to put the picture of one of my best girlfriends on my post!! She is tall, dark, and gorgeous!! I know you can't tell by the picture but she is a Great Dane and despite her gargantuan size she actually doesn't know she is really that big at all!! In fact New Years found her trying to sit on Norma's lap!!!
I know you can't tell by the picture but she really was sitting on poor Norma's lap!!!
So how have the first few days of your New Year been?
So this is the time of year when everyone decides to make themselves a better person during the next up and coming year. Most people do this though by giving up things; giving up smoking, giving up eating, giving up clutter, and so on and so forth. I decided this year that I was going to choose to not give up something but to take an active stand to become a better person!! The three things I have decided to do are; learn guitar, post to my blog on a somewhat regular basis, and participate in the 365 project!!
I can't wait!!! My kindred spirit Kim at the Daisy Cottage inspired me with her photography so much that I went out and bought myself a new dSLR camera. I think the 365 project is the perfect way to get used to using it!!!
And of course my ever inspirational Lucy at the White Farm House has inspired me to keep the blog up!! she is so motivational!!
So let's take this journey together and see what 2010 will bring!!!
